Sprayed polyurethane roofing systems

Why should you consider a Sprayed Polyurethane Foam insulating systems?

      The versatility, unique physical
 characteristics and impressive
performance of Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF) roofing systems provide a long list of problem-solving benefits that distinguishes it from other roofing materials. So, if you're wondering if and why SPF systems are a good choice for you, we encourage you to read on.

Seamless Flexible
 Protection
Seams are one of the major sources of leaks in many roofing systems. Constant expansion and contraction of a building over time exposes these areas to relentless pressure that will eventually open up these seams causing leaks. SPF systems are totally seamless eliminating a seam leak from your long list of worries. Taking it a step further, SPF's closed cellular structure does not allow water to travel laterally, like other roofing systems. A leak in the top of competitive systems will facilitate the spread of water to other areas of the system, saturating the insulation and causing multiple interior leaks. With SPF, even if a hole is punched completely through the foam membrane, water movement will be restricted to the hole. In most cases, repairs can be made with a tube of caulk. Typical roofing problem areas such as roof-mounted heating and cooling units, penetrations, curbs and parapet walls are self-flashed during application. Foam flows around all protrusions forming a tight bond that seals off places where leaks can start. Because of these same qualities, future roof modifications can be easily accommodated. Foam is easy to cut and replace when vent stacks or other roof penetrations need to be moved or replaced to fit new operational needs.

Save Time and Money

Because the SPF roof is lightweight and fully adhered, it can be applied over the existing roofing system in many cases. If underlying areas of moisture are found in the old roof, minimal tear-off may be required. Workplace disruption is another major, but often overlooked, expense for the building manager or owner. SPF roofing is much less disruptive to the work or living space below since tear-off is minimal. No more exposing your building's contents to the elements resulting in business interruptions. Also, projects can be completed more quickly because application is quieter, quicker and requires less labor.

Energy Efficiency

SPF's closed cell structure stops air infiltration, the chief culprit of most energy loss. Because SPF is fully adhered to the roofing surface, there are no attachment screws providing thermal shorts that could rob energy efficiency from you building and no unsightly screws visible from inside the building. In addition to its other benefits. SPF is high-grade insulation. A one-inch thickness has an insulating R-value of 6.25 higher than any other insulating material on the market. When you install SPF over an existing roof. you retain the pre-existing R-value, as well as adding to it.

Reflective, Durable Protective Coating

An important part of every foam roofing system is a high-quality protective coating, such as:

• Benchmark premium acrylic elastomeric root coating
• Rapid Roof III acrylic elastomeric roof coating
• Polytuff II urethane roof coating

These coatings cure to form a seamless, flexible covering that protects the foam from exposure to moisture and sunlight. Plus, the reflective white finishes help make the system even more energy efficient. These highly reflective energy star rated coatings reflect away as much as 85 percent of the sun's ultraviolet rays, keeping the roof's surface and the work or living space below more comfortable. This reflectivity pays big dividends on those hot summer days and the added insulation value of SPF provides huge savings in every season.

  Benchmark
Benchmark premium roofing system, provides the toughest protection available. With superior elongation and tensile strength, Benchamrk outperforms other acrylic coatings in withstanding expansion and contraction caused by temperature extremes. It's also the most resistant to punctures, acid rain, air pollutants and ultraviolet degradation. Benchmark meets the strict requirements of the Uniform Building Code and is recognized by the Underwriters' Laboratories, the Internation Conference of Building Officials, as well as Factory Mutual and Dade County, Florida. Benchmark (white) has a solar reflectivity of 85 percent.

  Rapid Roof III
Rapid Roof III, the third generation of Conklin's original roof coating system, is designed to be lightweight, flexible, seamless and weatherproof. Comprised of a fire classified light tan base coat, and a highly reflective standard white top coat with a solar reflectivity of 84 percent. Rapid Roof III cures to a tack-free, dirt-resistant finish. Rapid Roof III also offers the option of light blue, light tan and light gray top coats.

    Polytuff® III Hypalon Urethane Coating
Polytuff® III is the coating to use when cooler temperature application, chemical resistance and durability under harsh environmental conditions is necessary. The Polytuff III system is a combination of a single-component, moisture-cure urethane base coat and a white, Hypalon® top coat, providing a solar reflectance value of 82 percent.

    Prime Time™ Plus
Get a quality spray foam application at a value price by using Prime Time™ Plus primer coat in conjunction with Rapid Roof III® 100 percent acrylic top coat. The Prime Time Plus system provides the benefit for year-round energy savings from the high-grade insulation while the acrylic elastomeric coating system protects the foam from the elements. The Prime Time Plus system carries an Underwriters Laboratories Class A fire rating and offers an optional five year material warranty.
